Five Handmade Gifts For Whippet Owners
We want to highlight the amazing work that iheartwhippets.co.uk does and put a spotlight on some of our favourite whippet gifts kindly donated to the auctions by a variety of companies, artists and makers over the years.
First some background information on I heart Whippets. This is from Paola Marra - founder of the charity
I Heart Whippets
"iheartwhippets is a charitable organisation dedicated to the love of Whippets. I established iheartwhippets in July 2012 initially as a fun venture to celebrate the quirkiness of the breed and to attempt to raise much-needed funds to help support organisations that rescue Sighthounds from appallingly desperate cases of neglect and abuse.
I set up a Facebook page followed by a website dedicated to furthering my efforts and hosted online auctions, photography competitions and raffles. I organised tea parties, meet and greets and held other fundraising gatherings all targeted at building awareness for the project and ultimately raising funds to help Sighthounds. As well as providing a tremendous amount of enjoyment and amusement, iheartwhippets has been a surprisingly successful fundraising vehicle, donating approximately £100,000 to date. The project is now firmly established with two biannual online auctions: the Spring Auction commencing 1st May and the Christmas Auction, commencing 1st November.'

Last Night In Limehouse
Zoe from Last Night In Limehouse lives on a dutch barge and I can only imagine how beautifully her barge must be painted! I love the mix of the traditional handpainted designs that are now being adapted and given a new lease of life on dog collars, purses and bags. It's such a great idea to upcycle preloved handbags a great way to keep traditional crafts alive and they're so, so pretty as well.
Her collection includes all different sized collars for different sized dogs in different colours and different designs. Zoe even works to commission if you send in your own items to be covered in her floral designs.

The Trendy Whippet
I am very envious of this beautiful chunky knit jumper, I can see myself in something similar! These jumpers are from The Trendy Whippet, set up by Chloe after she became the owner of a sight hound and wanted to create a one stop shop for sighthound essentials.

How cute are these? yoga hound decorative magnets, hours of fun playing around with these on the fridge.
These are £7.60 and are pretty much the perfect gift for a yoga loving whippet or sighthound owner. They are available on Etsy here
Bella Art Studio
Bella Art was founded by Suffolk artist Lucy Dawson. These lampshades are created from an original painting by Lucy and are printed onto 100% cotton in Lancashire and then sent back down to Suffolk to be handmade into lampshades and other home accessories.
