These are the first pair of statement earrings on the theme of story telling. The story that inspired these earrings is the literary classic Moby Dick by Herman Melville.
The earrings are handmade in solid silver. They feature a sun and moon at the top with a stud fitting. The Nantucket whaling ship, Pequod, is next, beautifully detailed and summoning up the romance of this sea adventure.
Suspended from the ship are the beautiful blue tourmalines representing the ocean. The tourmalines are oval in size and measures 2cm width. The stones have such quality, depth and beauty to them. The intensity of the colour perfectly represents the danger and beauty of the sea. The colour is gradiated across the stone, from the shallow waters to the deep. Inclusions can be seen within the stone, reminiscent of moonlight dancing on the waves. The stones are set within a unique setting, encompassing the waves and shells of the ocean.
The final part of this ensemble is Moby Dick himself, the fine sperm whale, swimming just out of reach of his hunter. Epic earrings for an epic story.
